Daniel teaches high school history through role-play, debates, and firsthand sources.
Story
Daniel moved to the U.S. from Nigeria as a teenager, where he quickly discovered how differently history was taught in classrooms. Determined to make history feel alive, he earned a degree in Social Studies Education and now teaches in Sacramento.
In Daniel’s classes, students don’t just memorize dates — they take roles, analyze primary documents, and debate historical decisions as if they were there. One unforgettable lesson saw students reenacting the Constitutional Convention, arguing passionately as Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, and George Mason.
Daniel believes the goal of teaching history is not just to explain what happened, but to help students understand how the world they live in came to be.
Outside the classroom, he hosts a weekly high school podcast called History Is Now, where students discuss current events in historical context. He joined Kina to expand his impact beyond his physical classroom.
